Green Tax for Cars and Two Wheelers: Government of Maharashtra impose a green tax (also known as environment tax) on private vehicles that are older than 15 years, while commercial vehicles used for over eight years will also be subject to the tax. The Green tax (GT) applicable to private vehicles older than 15 years are as follow: Two wheelers: Rs.2000 Diesel vehicles: Rs.3500 Petrol vehicles: Rs.3000 The tax will have to be paid every five years. The Green tax (GT) applicable to commercial vehicles older than eight years is as follows: Autorickshaws: Rs.750 Light good vehicles: Rs.2500 Six-seater taxis: Rs.1250 Vehicles with more than 7500 kgcapacity: 10% of annual tax Service vehicles: 2.5% of annual tax Contract buses: 2.5% of annual tax Tourist buses: 2.5% of annual tax

BH Number - Many questions still to answer The government has introduced BH number series and vehicles have started getting registered since 2021 under this scheme. But after almost 1.5 years have passed a lot of confusion still remains with the executive RTOs /RTAs, to enumerate a few.. Can the owner of a BH number vehicle sell the vehicle to a person who doesn't have employment with an employee who has offices in 4 states? if yes, will the BH number continue and he have to pay tax every 2nd year as it was for the first buyer? or  if yes again, but BH will no longer continue and his vehicle will be registered as local state RTO series only like MH/ RJ/JK, etc...   In such a case will the new buyer will have to pay local road tax for the residual period, and how it will be calculated?
